Brant joined Comstock in December 1999 and has performed over 100 business appraisals in a wide variety of industries for various purposes, including ESOPs, estate and gift tax situations, shareholder disputes, mergers and acquisitions, goodwill impairment tests and fairness opinions.

His background includes work at Cincinnati Financial Corporation, where he managed a commercial insurance Property & Casualty territory.  During his tenure he handled a group of independent agencies in Wisconsin with a book of business in excess of $7 million.  His duties included pricing and declining renewal business, limiting liability exposures, and facilitating communication between the agencies and the company.

Brant was also employed by Scott & Stringfellow, a regional brokerage firm based in Richmond, Virginia.  As a member of the Institutional Research & Sales Department, Brant’s focus was on the public micro-cap market.  He actively solicited institutional clients with his own stock ideas, a product of many months of due diligence.  While at Scott & Stringfellow he researched many different industries, formulated sales and profit projections, and also maintained a retail book of business.  Brant was licensed as a registered investment advisor by the National Association of Securities Dealers, having passed the Series 7, 63, and 65 tests.

Brant has spoken before the National Trust Closely Held Business Association and the Cincinnati Financial Planning Association.  He has also been published in the American Society of Appraiser’s Business Valuation Review.

Brant received a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Social Studies Education from Wake Forest University.  He was many times a Dean’s List student in addition to being an Atlantic Coast Conference Champion in Track & Field.  Brant is a CFA charterholder, as well as a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers.  Brant is also a past president of the Cincinnati Athletic Association and current vice-president of the Twin City Track Club.
