Marianne joined ComStock’s Winston-Salem office in 2007 as a Senior Analyst/Economist.  In this role Marianne provides expert witness testimony to ComStock clients in their litigation cases.  

Prior to joining ComStock Ms. Hayek was an economics instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she taught upper-division undergraduate and graduate students in law and economics and public finance.  

In addition to her work as an economics instructor Ms. Hayek has worked as a senior economist for Laurits R. Christensen Associates.  As a senior economist she gained extensive experience analyzing market structure and economic damages for legal disputes including intellectual property and anti-trust violations.  She also has extensive experience testifying as an expert witness on damages issues and discrimination claims.  

In some of her major cases Ms. Hayek has testified as an economic expert where she analyzed wage date to test for evidence of discrimination and estimated damages from the alleged discrimination.  She also assessed damages and developed litigation strategy from Microsoft’s alleged anti-competitive actions in an anti-trust suit involving computer software operating systems.  

In addition to her consulting work Ms. Hayek has also published several articles including:  “Expert Communication” which appeared in the Illinois Bar Journal in December, 2001, “Damages and Intellectual Property Litigation” for the Minnesota Institute of Legal Education in April, 1996, and “Patent Damages After Polaroid” which appeared in Intellectual Property a publication of the Illinois State Bar Association in May, 1994.   

She has also written expert reports that addressed the validity of statistical sampling techniques in breach of contract cases.
